Our Initiatives

Every first and third Thursdays at 8:00 PM CST, we’ll be hosting a series of live, online events. We’re looking to create heartfelt conversations meant to deepen our spiritual selves through communal work and critical engagement with faith.

Ruh Roundtables: Discussion Series

A space to share insights, realizations, struggles, and lessons from our own personal spiritual journeys. Each event will be facilitated around a critical theme. Previous Discussions have included:

  • Loneliness and Community

  • Unapologetically Muslim

  • Death and Dying

  • The Mirrored Relationships

Connecting with Your Creator: A Quran Study Group

A study group focused on engaging primary and secondary texts (Quran, Hadiths, Religious Traditions) with the intention of developing a more intimate relationship with Our Creator. All opinions, experiences, and levels of “knowledge” are encouraged to join. This is about finding the message that speaks to you — and sharing that message with others.

Sadaqah In Focus: Speaker Series

An event series centered on featuring organizations doing meaningful impact work in the community. These events will offer a close opportunity to hear from organization leaders, ask questions, and donate to the initiatives that speak to you. Previous Events have included interviews with Rana Abdelhamid, founder of MALIKAH, and Namira Islam Anani, co-founder of the Muslim Anti-Racism Collaborative.

Annual In-Person Retreat

In October of 2021, the first in-person Grassroot Islam retreat was held in Boulder, Colorado. For four days, members of our community from across the country came together to share space, laughs, and spirit.

Since then, we hosted our second retreat in September 2022, and will plan to have our third retreat this upcoming Spring. If you would like to join us and have not already indicated your interest, please email us ASAP at team@grassrootislam.org.
